I love this exhibit.

Jacob Dahlgren's Forward, Back, Right, Left is at the Henry Art Gallery on campus right now. And it makes me really happy. I was too intimidated when I was there the other day, but my photo class went down and threw darts for a half an hour on Monday morning. It was great.

Does anybody want to go with me again? Please?

Coming Attractions.

My mind may have wandered during poli sci.

Unfortunately, I haven't figured out how to fund these craft projects yet.

I wish I had what it took to make these...

I've taken a shot at Spoon Rings before (to little success).
Where do you find Mini Compasses?
And vintage type writer keys? I'm sure I could figure this one out... Not that I'd be able to achieve this perfection.

First Prints

We're printing our photos for class this week. Which really felt like quite the ordeal, but I'm pretty happy with how they turned out, and I'm excited to bring them to class on Monday. After much deliberation, I decided on these 5 images:

I just scheduled an impulsive haircut for this afternoon.

With no concrete idea of how I'd like it cut. I'll probably end up with trim and some layers. But short hair is tempting me (again)...

I kind of love my photo class.

I spent my break between classes exploring down by the water (I started out by Aqua Verde.. and ended up around Ivar's). It was fun. And then I got coffee and a scone at the Bean and Bagel. :)

Plus, I wore my cat headband.

I make my own bargains.

I love Jenny's wikstenmade clothing collection (and blog). Love love love. But there is no way I'd ever be able to even dream of affording it. Fortunantely, Jenny published a skirt pattern in Stich a few months ago, which got me started.

Wiksten's Alison Skirt:

My imitation, sewn from second hand denim.

Her cord top:

My, much less amazing version:

My scarf has no where near wiksten's epic size. :P It's knitted from recycled yarn though!

Finally, my most recent attempt. Her Winter Plaid Top:

And mine (also from second hand fabric):

Neat.

Genius Bubble Wrap Calender and Obama stamp. Who comes up with these excellent ideas?

Mr. Sun, Sun, Mr. Golden Sun

I'm sitting in Allen library, and this just happened.

I'm not sure my camera phone quite captures the amazing warmth of sunshine after weeks without any.

I can't pick. Also, 100th blogpost.*

Initially, I was less than thrilled with these pictures. They involved an awful lot of running around, stress, and effort to get. But as it turns out, I now have five I really like, and can only really turn three in to class.

*Irony at its finest - decision making, which I hate most, coupled with blogging, which I seem to be pretty fond of.

I swear, this is the story of my life.

I don't know how it happens, it just does.

I can take photos, and I can sew.

But apparently I can't take pictures of things I've sewn. They never seem to work out quite right. I HATE using my flash, so I tried to use god's gift to Seattle - 365 days a year of nice ambient lighting, but my window is awkwardly situated to shoot from, and I had forgotten I'd set my camera on a super high ISO earlier in the day. So I didn't get many good shots. Anyhow, this is a glimpse of the sewing I've done over the last week (the top shirt is made of a really soft corduroy). I'm really pretty proud of it all.

I love the Built By Wendy pattern I sewed these from. I'm sure there will very many shirts and dresses to follow. But for now, I need to focus, so Jackie is tucked safely under my desk until the three day weekend.

Someday I'll learn not to re-pot plants in my dorm room.

It makes kind of a mess.

The official list of famous people I'm randomly fond of.

James Franco
Zooey Dechanel
Colin Firth
Natalie Portman

On a partially related note, I went to the Egyptian and saw Milk with Kelsey, Adam, Cate and Danielle tonight, and I thought it was phenomenal. I love going to the movies in Seattle.

Perfomative Photos

I finally did my first photo project! I'm pretty excited for the course.

*note.. I made the shirt myself!

So maybe I've done a lot of crafting in the last 24 hours.

But Markus was at the coast and I had giftcards. So it's acceptable.

I learned how to make buttonholes!

Which means I was able to finish my skirts, and whip this guy out in .2 seconds. I'm really excited about it. And crafting in general. And not packing.
