sewing and things until I got all packed, and then maybe even unpacked, into my house in Seattle (which happens this Saturday!). But then I was home alone, with no car, and (conveniently enough) no boxes. So I made this dress, and it may be my favorite thing I've ever sewn (ever). Seriously, I love the pattern. I may make a zillion more. And it's even better, because I only paid a dollar for the pattern because Joann's had an awesome sale.

Small Town, North Dakota
I didn't take a ton of digital photos while I was there, but I did knit, enjoy the sunshine, and shoot two 35mm rolls with my holga.

Dress Mode
I've had dresses on the mind lately. I've sewn myself 2 so far, thrifted one yesterday, and wore this jumper from Target the other day. And I don't see any signs of my dress-making spree ending soon..

Roadtrip
So, I'm taking a roadtrip out to North Dakota with my boyfriend and his brother (1,063 miles one way, according to googlemaps). I don't know that I've ever driven for that long, and I was planning on taking my mom's canon rebel with me, but apparently the camera's needed at home. So I guess I'll be taking my sony cybershot, which is a bit of a let down (hopefully I'll have my holga too, if I can find some 120mm film in Kennewick). I've flirted with the idea of buying myself a "nice" camera for ages, but I just can't ever quite seem to justify it (even though my family has a spare lens I could use). And now that my cybershot doesn't always shoot in focus, vibrates between photos, and does crazy auto-rotating business, I wish even more that I had a nice d-slr.

In other important news.
I've been sewing a ton now that I have a little bit of free time. Among my finished projects so far is a new cover for the ironing board I thrifted last week - I used remnant fabric from my grandma's quilting stash, and loosely followed these instructions.
I'm sure I'll get photos up of all the dresses I've sewn up soon. :)

A couple days of summer (are left).
Today was my last day of work for the summer. I can't believe it's almost over! I have the next week off, and then I think I'll head off to North Dakota with the boyfriend to visit his family for the week, and then he goes to school, and then I'll have a week to finish figuring out how to furnish a house and slim down the amount of junk I have in my room, and then I'll move up to Seattle and find a job before school starts! At least that is the plan at the moment.
It kills me that I can't (or at least, shouldn't) post photos of my wonderful day campers from this summer. I worked with a group of 7 and 8 year olds, and the summer was full of some pretty unique challenges. But we all survived, and I'm taking a lot away from it, not least of which is inspiration for future hair dying:
In other news, 500 Days of Summer finally came to the Tri Cities. Markus and I went and saw it tonight, and we were the only ones in the theater. It was sweet, and mellow, and depressing.. and I enjoyed it at least. :)
